The Draka brand offers cables for the installation market in the Non-Residential Housing & Industry, Infrastructure and Marine, Oil & Gas sectors. In addition to power cables, Draka also supplies cables and cable systems for data networks and telecom infrastructure such as Fiber-to-the-Home. The Prysmian brand supplies the medium and high voltage cables and accessories for these markets and the energy market. General Cable mainly produces electricity cables which are sold worldwide.
Prysmian North Europe Region With more than one hundred years of experience, Prysmian is the market leader in the North Europe for supplying cables, systems and services in the energy and telecom industry. With the Draka and Prysmian brands, Prysmian is in the North Region active in the market from energy generation to the end user. In the Netherlands, Prysmian has 4 locations in Emmen, Nieuw-Bergen, Eindhoven and in Delft.
History The Draka brand was established in 1910 as the N.V. Hollandsche Wire and Cable Factory. Three years later the Dutch Cable Factory (NKF) started in Delft. NKF was taken over in a later stage by Pirelli Cavi – predecessor of Prysmian. Since 2011, Draka and Prysmian merged together in the world’s largest cable producing company. General Cable was added in 2018.
Prysmian Emmen
The Draka brand is produced in Emmen. The site has around 300 employees. The production is spread over three factories (Energy & Control, Transport & Mobility & Industries) and works continuously. Because the current Continuous Improvement Engineer was promoted to a different role, Prysmian is looking for a backfill of this position.
